ST. MARTIN DOWNS PEARL RIVER CENTRAL TO RUN RECORD TO 4-0

ST. MARTIN, Mississippi – Late in the third quarter, St. Martin quarterback Patrick Greer connected with Makia Hebert on a 75-yard touchdown pass to open up what had been to that point a surprisingly close game and the Yellow Jackets went on to down Pearl River Central 41-28 to become Jackson County’s only 4-0 team. Big nights from Greer and dual threat Makia Hebert propelled the ‘Jacket attack. Greer completed 10 of 19 passes for 175 yards and four touchdowns – two of those touchdowns to Hebert, who finished with 136 receiving yards, 211 all-purpose yards and a rushing touchdown to go along with the two receiving scores. St. Martin opened up a 21-7 lead in the first half on TD passes from Greer to Hebert, a 20-yard score to Easton Wynn and a 14-yard run by Jay McGee. But PRC put up a fight, scoring on a 32-yard run by Ty Herring and an 8-yard run by Detrich Spikes to make it a 21-14 game late in the third quarter before Greer found Hebert on the 75-yard bomb that gave St. Martin a two-touchdown lead they would not relinquish. Hebert would score on his TD run and Greer tossed a 3-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Nguyen to round out the ‘Jacket scoring. Herring and Spikes would each score rushing touchdowns in the second half. The Yellow Jackets also benefited from an opportunistic defense, with Demarrius Ingram picking off a pass and Shawn Lyons and Brent Chandler each with a fumble recovery. St. Martin (4-0) will be open next week before beginning Region 4-6A play at Gulfport.
