TYLERTOWN, Mississippi -- The St. Martin Yellow Jackets moved to 2-0 on the season with a road win against the Tylertown Chiefs.
St. Martin took the early lead on a 25-yard touchdown run by Elijah Washington, giving the 'Jackets a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter.
The Chiefs would respond early in the second quarter on a 70-yard touchdown pass from Jashon Barker to Lamara Thompson. A two-point conversion run by Barker gave Tylertown an 8-7 lead.
St. Martin quarterback Mileon Graham regained the lead for the 'Jackets with a four-yard TD run midway through the second quarter, but Tylertown would tie the game when Barker threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Javonte Walker. The PAT failed, but it was 14-14 at the half.
The Yellow Jackets took control of the game in the third quarter, with quarterback Graham connecting with Mikia Hebert on a 30-yard scoring pass midway through the quarter, and about four minutes later, Ham McGee scored on a 1-yard touchdown run, giving the 'Jackets a 28-14 lead.
The Chiefs edged closer early in the fourth when Barker scored on a 15-yard run. A two-point attempt failed, leaving the 'Jackets in front, 28-20.
But Washington put the game away when he returned the ensuing kickoff for an 80-yard touchdown and a 34-20 St. Martin lead.
