ST. MARTIN SNEAKS PAST BILOXI
St. Martin won its third straight Region 4-6A game Friday night.
The Yellow Jackets remained in what is now a three way tie for first place in the league standings pulling out a 31-26 road win over Biloxi. St. Martin moves to 3-1 in league play, and the Indians are now 2-2 in the region race.
Junior Yellow Jacket placekicker Sean Gomez booted a pair of crucial field goals in the second half, and the SMHS defense came up with a huge stand deep in its own territory late in the game to pull out the win.
St. Martin standout senior quarterback Wayne Overman completed just nine passes, but threw for 170 yards and a pair of scores. He also ran for one touchdown as well in the big win.
His favorite target, senior wide receiver Kalem Reddix had three receptions for 126 yards and one score. Isaac Williams also had a 1-yard scoring catch, and St. Martin tailback Ham McGee ran for 123 yards and one score as well.
The Yellow Jackets, now 6-3 overall, are tied with D'Ibervile and George County atop the Region 4-6A standings. St. Martin hosts arch-rival Ocean Springs next week in a key league game.
